I've been living in historic Warrenton, VA for the past 4 years, to be near my granddaughters (Warrenton changed hands 67 times during the Civil War). I go into Washington, D.C. 2-3 times a month and have been exploring the Smithsonian one museum at a time. The Capitol Dome, Washington Monument, etc. look so calm and imposing, it's hard to grasp all the turmoil just below the surface. Since I've been very active in VA elections and lobbied for passage of the ERA, gun safety measures, redistricting, and education reform, I have a good idea of what those tensions are here at the epicenter.
Mimi Rodin has visited several times with her son, Dias, and we had a wonderful time in and out of D.C. Let me know if you are in town; I might be able to provide a guided tour.
