Linda Musengo

A Tribute by Linda's Son
Submitted by Ramona Batliner

Linda Musengo 10/16/47-6/21/18 Linda graduated Rich East in 1965, and attended George Washington University before marrying Jack Niendorf (R.E. ‘65, 7/16/47-7/4/16) in 1968. They had two sons, John (1969) and Bob (1970).

Linda was a full time mother while living in Park Forest, but was also active on the school board, as a volunteer on a crisis hotline, and as a singer in local Park Forest choirs. She and her family moved to Bend, Oregon in 1977, and she began working as a bookkeeper for various local businesses. As her passion was always in singing, she was a member of several choirs in Bend, and was a regular performer every Christmas in “The Messiah”. She graduated Valedictorian as a Certified Public Accountant from Linfield College in 1993, and continued her career as an accountant in Bend.

Jack and Linda divorced in 1997, and Linda moved to San Diego. She continued working as an accountant for Home Depot, then the San Diego Metropolitan Transit System. She also joined the San Diego Master Chorale.

After a period of post-divorce self evaluation, Linda conquered some lifelong fears and began to embark on numerous adventures. Formerly afraid of flying, she went skydiving in 2004. She traveled to many far-flung destinations, including London, Barcelona, Italy, Machu Picchu, the Galápagos Islands, and the reclusive nation of Bhutan. Even though Linda had already experienced a lifetime’s worth of adventure, she craved more, and was excited to have time available to travel during her retirement. Sadly, Linda was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2012, and although she continued singing with the Master Chorale for as long as her voice would allow, she was unable to travel as she had hoped.

Linda passed away on June 21, 2018. As it was the Summer Solstice, we will always remember on the brightest day of the year the light she brought to the world. Linda is survived by her two sons, John and Bob, and her grandchildren, Kyle and Taylor

Fun memories of Linda at our Reunion in Vegas with Larry and Denny.  I’m saddened this disease took her life but she’s at peace now.  Very talented and sweet classmate.

Saddened me to hear of her passing.  I have great memories of her and choir.  I'm sure she is singing in Heaven now.

My condolences to Linda’s family, i called her on her birthday several times. Never able to talk to her, but was told to just leave a messsge & she would listen to her messsges, as it was difficult for her to talk.

I didn't really know Linda in high school but, as Ronnie indicated, the four of us, Linda, Ronnie, Larry and I, hung out pretty much the entire time at the 40th reunion and Linda and I formed a great friendship. We have been in contact ever since and I will miss her.
