John McMurray, John Mac or just "Mac" was a good friend and I will mis him. And to me, the most likeable person on the planet.

John lived
just a couple doors down from Jim. Like Denny said he was one of the nicest human beings on the planet. He was so patient and was the one that taught me how to drive a stick shift and that really took a lot of patience. He will be missed prayers for his family. He will be missed.

John was a pal in high school.  He, Larry Schmal, Rich Hall and I drove to New Orleans after graduation to check out a University Rich was interested in, but we all know the real purpose for the trip.  As Bonnie and Denny said, John was one of the nicest guys on the planet.  We four reconnected at the 50th and had a good time remembering our trip of so many years ago.  He will be missed.

John was a great friend of mine in the 50s and 60s . We drag raced cars and fixed cars . He had a 57 2 door light blue Ford and I had a 57 2 door Tirquuoise Chevy . We went to US 30 Drag Strip in Indiana to watch the Sunday races . We also drag raced cars on  Flossmoor Road for $5 per quarter mile race .
We took a spontaneous "Road Trip" to watch Major League Baseball games in Pittsburg , Cincinnati , St.Louis and Chicago in John's Ford in less than one week . We ate some terrible food and drank cheap beer . We had a lot of belly laughs even though John was self conscious about his crooked teeth .
John could fix anything. He understood mechanics , combustion and lubricants  .
He was an unpretentious and caring guy who everybody loved and trusted and he would do anything and everything for his friends .
The world lost a Great Guy !

I enjoyed reading all the comments about John McMurray.  That was John for sure.  Kind and nice to everyone.

I was just thinking about John recently, remembering about things we did from Park Forest to California.  I always wondered what happened to him and now I hear this sad news.  To know John is to like John.  I'm glad I was his friend with great memories.

I was sorry to hear of another classmate passing. I didn't know John (Mac) well, but my few interactions with John were always pleasant & he was always kind. My condolences to his family.R.I.P. John

Sweet Johnny. Such a good, decent, unassuming guy. Was our neighbor from day 1 in Park Forest. His sister Maureen was like my own. Still feels that way. The whole McMurrsy family was dear to mine.
So, remembering him well. From our kid fun in the neighborhood to the ride on his motorcycle that I HATED and would therefore not lean into the turns. Which he HATED.
Very grateful we were able to visit at the 50th reunion. Seeing him again after so long brought me much warm delight. Bless you, Johnny.
